Clickbait title, the “problematic” part is more a criticism of the fact it took an R-Rated movie to deliver us awesome girlfriends like Yukio and Negasonic, while many franchises more kid-friendly, like MCU, failed to have any LGBTQ representation.

I was getting ready to whirl the person who wrote this into the sun to punish them for talkin’ shit about these Cute Nuggets before I read your comment so thank you for calming my Angry Heart

And ye clickbait title aside it is indeed hella problematic that NONE of the other superhero movies out there that aren’t rated R have included the tiniest scrap of LGBTQIA representation

This says so much about how FANTASTIC Deadpool is and how far behind it the entire MCU is.

One of the suits at Disney has apparently said they’re “Open” (Translation: never going to) to doing more R rated Deadpool films “As long as they let audiences know what they’re in for”

Yes I can see how they’d have to warn audiences beforehand since they’re going to experience something radically different from the vast majority of Marvel movies beforehand

Diversity and Representation

Oh and some violence and swearing

Not like the Good Wholesome PG-13 rated Marvel movies that gave us scenes like Loki having his throat crushed and blood filling his eyes as he died a slow and painful death

Or Nebula being strung up and tortured

Or Rona the Accuser smashing a dudes head to paste with a giant fuckin hammer

Or had superheroes throwing around the words shit, bastard and asshole at least once a film

But no this will be a movie that’s only suitable for adults in Marvel’s eyes because it might have a a pansexual lead who doesn’t No Homo every interaction he has with another male character and has a canonically lesbian couple in its cast

Stuff that is far too adult for the movie universe that just had a film end with a universe wide act of genocide

The MCU: where characters we love can die in horrifying, painful ways, but we cannot DARE to show Valkyrie being openly bisexual on screen because that IS NOT FREINDLY FOR THE FAMILY

Literally the first film in the whole MCU kicked off with lapdancing stewardesses, followed on that with someone being abducted and threatened with torture by terrorists

But you know

As far as Marvel is concerned a woman holding her girlfriend’s hand and being openly lesbian can only happen in an R rated movie ._.
