you are missing something! although those are the boots of the apollo 11 suits, they’re not what was worn on the moon. neil armstrong, not content with wearing just one pair of shoes, demanded nasa make him another, larger and cooler pair of boots just for walking on the moon.
you can see them here, to the right of the suit’s built-in boots.
photos of armstrong on the moon prominently feature the boots!
although i couldn’t find any official nasa photos of the bottoms of the boots, i could find something even more interesting! an x-ray of the boots “taken as a last minute check to see if there were any foreign objects that could compromise the integrity of the spacesuit during the mission, such as broken off tips of needles that were used in the stitching process”
the thick vertical lines are the treads at the bottoms of the boots
on a more pragmatic note: if nasa was faking a moon landing with a $150 billion+ budget, do you really think they’d mess up something as simple as a boot print?
Ducktales redesign for Bonkers D. Bobcat. Still not really use to the style and might do some more tweaks to the design. Not sure if I should have given him pants. Don’t know if I like the highlights in his hair. Kinda screwed up his hands which were inspired by @toons-a-plenty and this art by them (go check out their art, it’s super cute). Tried to give him the yellow palms but couldn’t get it right and just did the fingers, so I might try that again next time.
Character notes – (cuz I’m forgetful, need a place to put these, and plan on doing stuff with this AU)
Is Officer Crackshell-Cabrera’s partner and is still pretty new to the force.
Was still a TV star first. Possibly grew up as a child actor in this worlds version of a Disney sitcom, before briefly getting his own show.
The Collector incident still basically happened and may have been the catalyst to him dropping the film industry in favor of working in law enforcement (though getting pretty harshly canned when his show couldn’t keep up its ratings still had a hand in that too).
Getting into police work wasn’t an accident in this universe and he did actually go through the proper training. It’s one of the very first and few well thought out life choices he’s ever committed to on his own.
Like with most uncomfortable subjects he avoids talking about the Collector incident as much as he can and won’t willingly bring it up if he doesn’t have to. Also, like with most things, he tries to use humor to either deflect from talking about it all together or to make it sound less terrifying than it was.
“Bonkers” was his stage name in this verse, but is also now his legal name. He’s very open about this fact but absolutely refuses to give away his old name. It’s dead to him.
